Sweet home Chicago...

Lots of musical events in the Windy City in 1967.
Seven musicians formed CTA, hoping to combine their various influences into one new sound- rock and roll with horns.
These guys were VERY good- Hendrix called their guitarist, Terry Kath, his favorite guitar player.
"Chicago" would eventually top record sales of 100,000,000 albums.

Also in 1967, Kay Musical Instruments, based in Chicago, merged with Valco, a company started by 3 partners,
including a descendant of the Dobro originators.
Valco had been making amps for Gretsch and Kay, as well as their own brands including Supro and National.

For week 41 of our 50th anniversary celebrations,
save $196.70 on Supro guitars.

"Come on, baby don't you wanna go..."

Here's a bonus "Just because..." 50th anniversary deal:

buy a D'Addario collector's tin with 4 sets of EXL120 electric strings,
a set of NYXL 9-42, and a leather NYXL strap for $50+ tax.

In September 1967, the Stone Poneys released their version of "Different Drum",
a song originally written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees.

The Poneys were part of the happening music scene centered around Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles,
practicing in the local laundromat, performing at the Troubadour, and opening for groups such as the Doors.
